Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC Round-Up – I Hear The Beaches on Pulse are Lovely This Time of Year

Final Fantasy XIII and its offspring have been the subject of quite a fair amount of debate, and have split fanbases down the middle in many cases. Say what you may about the games, there’s no doubt that they continue to push the envelope in terms of including features and designs that no other Final Fantasy game has before them. FFXIII-2 now stands as the first in the series to receive a healthy helping of downloadable content support, and new releases are still being announced. And, in traditional FFXIII style, the value of each DLC release is creating more and more arguments, such as “why spend money on this”, “do you really like playing dress-up with your JRPG characters”, “$1.59 is too much for a digital bikini”, among others.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 PS3 Review: Back to the Future, To Save the Future From…the Future?

Cover Art

Publisher: Square Enix
Developer:
Square Enix
Genre: Role-Playing
Platforms: PS3, Xbox 360
Release Date:
January 30, 2012
ESRB:
T – Teen

For the majority of recent memory, Square Enix’s coveted Final Fantasy franchise has been the subject (or, victim?) of some rather heated debates and a largely split fanbase. There are many who have long cried for a return to the series’ roots and refuse to swear by any other entry in the series other than Final Fantasy VI or VII. Each new entry for them is held up to impossibly high standards, both wrongfully and rightfully so. There are others who’ve moved forward with the series and their lives, accepting each new entry as just that: a new entry in a line of games that have little to do with each other besides spells ending in “aga”, giant birds called Chocobos and a man named Cid. Then, there are others who are new to the series, and others who prefer to spend their time naysaying on forums and comment boards (like a vast majority of the internet gaming community).

Retro Review- Ye Shall Not Believe the Tales of Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1)

FFTPS1 Boxart

Publisher: Square (JP), Sony Computer Entertainment (NA)
Developer: Square
Genre: Tactical RPG
Players: Single
Release Date: January 28, 1998
Rated: Teen

Is the original Playstation version of Final Fantasy Tactics very much different from the renewed PSP version? Except for the lengthened title, not really. Religion and magic still takes a turn for the worse. People just can’t help but explode in spiraling magic dust, evil monsters, and sacred text that turns out to be a record/lies/instruction guide/prophecy of doom all in one. Is no sacred text what it should be? Not in this story it isn’t.

Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Logo

For 25 years players have collected an abundant amount of gil, attempted to breed the perfect chocobo, encountered numerous random battles, summoned ferocious beasts, and wielded weapons of ridiculous sizes and proportions. Here is the official Square-Enix logo to help acknowledge and celebrate the 25th anniversary of this beloved franchise. There is a possibility that this logo may appear on upcoming titles such as the musical rhythm game for the Nintendo 3DS, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 The Moogle Trailer

If there’s one thing that can fix the Final Fantasy series, it has to be Moogles right? Square Enix released a new trailer detailing the uses of the cutesy, lovable Mog in Final Fantasy XIII-2. Not only can he…she…it(?) become a weapon, but you can force it to hunt for treasure and even throw it to reach treasure you can’t get to. Moogle rights activists are in an uproar, but a Moogle has to earn it’s keep. I mean, we feed them, clothe them, and give them shelter. They have to have some use other than looking cute and cuddly. Unleash your Mog on Jan. 31st, 2012.

Final Fantasy Type-0 Sees Phenomenal Sales Figures – What’s Next Square Enix?

Final Fantasy Type-0 Japanese Logo

In 2006, Square Enix announced a new branch of the Final Fantasy franchise that would carry the series’ next titles under its mantle. The Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation was announced to include Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Agito XIII (now Final Fantasy Type-0), Final Fantasy Versus XIII and more titles to be revealed in the coming years. Now, almost 6 years later, two of those titles have been released and only one of them internationally. Final Fantasy Versus XIII entered the swing of full production this summer, but there is still little to be seen or heard of the game besides the 8-minute trailer released at this past January’s exclusive Square Enix First Production Department Premiere event (they’re infamous for long and cryptic titles).
